PROXIMA ADHESIVES

Epoxy Adhesives

Monolith is a range of high quality adhesives used in a wide variety of industrial and domestic applications. They are characterised by their effectiveness in bonding different materials such as metals, wood, stone, etc. and are easy to use. Monolith adhesives are available in a variety of formulations to create permanent bonds between different materials.

Epoxy adhesives are adhesives developed on the basis of polymeric epoxy resins. They are included in the group of structural adhesives due to their properties, which make it possible to obtain structural component joints with strengths comparable to traditional mechanical joints.

These adhesives do not penetrate deeply into the structure of the material, but have a significant chemical affinity with the materials to be bonded. The cured bond layer is very mechanically resistant and therefore such adhesives are used for difficult to bond materials with a very ‘dense’ structure such as metals or glass, which cannot be bonded by deep penetrating adhesives such as solvent adhesives.

Epoxy adhesives are available in one or two component form.

Benefits of MONOLITH epoxy adhesives

The use of MONOLITH epoxy adhesives in structural bonding has significant advantages:

  • These adhesives have the ability to fill gaps of varying sizes between the parts to be bonded without significantly compromising the strength of the joint,
  • They do not change volume during the bonding process,
  • The bonded structure transmits mechanical vibrations much less and is therefore less “acoustic”,
  • Joints made with MONOLITH epoxy adhesives have significant thermal resistance, from -40°C to over +200°C for some types,
  • MONOLITH epoxy adhesives do not contain solvents and therefore do not emit harmful fumes,
  • These adhesives have good resistance to atmospheric and chemical agents,
  • Bonded joints are lighter than traditional mechanical joints.

MONOLITH epoxy adhesives have special properties, such as MONOLITH SE 131-1 or SE 132-1, which are permanently flexible and have military certification for impact resistance, or MONOLITH EP 2510-1, which allows parts to be baked enamelled.

A number of advantages of MONOLITH epoxy adhesives, such as

  • can be used in places where it is not possible to use electric tools or other technological methods that may cause ignition or explosion – e.g. when repairing or replacing installations containing flammable materials,
  • in areas where the supply of electricity is difficult or impossible,
  • in places where it is impossible to supply suitable equipment due to its weight and size

make the use of these adhesives in ad hoc, as well as systematic, periodic repairs and replacements of equipment and installations, the only rational solution to the problem.

Epoxy adhesives are used for bonding:

  • Carbon steels,
  • Various alloyed steels
  • Stainless steels
  • Aluminium
  • Non-ferrous metals
  • Most hard plastics, including polyamides,
  • Ceramics,
  • Glass,
  • Stone parts,
  • Wood,

and, after testing

  • many other non-standard materials.

MONOLITH epoxy adhesives allow the bonding of all the above mentioned homogeneous materials, as well as combinations of these materials, taking into account their specific differences in bonding technology, such as different coefficients of thermal expansion, different densities of the materials and therefore different degrees of adhesion, different qualities and conditions of the bonded surfaces.

These dissimilarities are overcome by selecting the right adhesive for the operating conditions of the joint and the parts to be joined, proper preparation of the surface, its proper degreasing and use of the right adhesive technology for the joint, selection of the right layer, thickness and shape of the weld.

Commonly used to join metals, glass, concrete, such as in metal structures, window joinery, brake pads, etc.
