Polyurethane Advesives
Polyurethane adhesives are specialty adhesives with many beneficial properties. They are based on the polymerisation of reactive polyurethane compounds and are widely used in a variety of industries. Polyurethane adhesives offer high strength, flexibility, weatherability and chemical resistance, making them a popular solution in many industries. Due to their versatility and durable bonds, polyurethane adhesives are widely used in the automotive, furniture, construction, electromechanical, packaging and many other industries.
Polyurethane adhesives are a very diverse group of adhesives, with several subgroups, each with :distinctly different properties. This makes them suitable for use in a wide range of industries.
All of them bond a wide range of materials, so manufacturers, usually specialising in selected subgroups of adhesives, try to offer them for all possible applications.
Sometimes a customer will use an adhesive that bonds but is not optimal for a particular application.
When discussing adhesives, they are most commonly divided into one component, two component and solvent adhesives.
One-part polyurethane adhesives are more flexible than two-part adhesives. However, it should be noted that high flexibility is not always desirable. The disadvantage of two-part adhesives is that there are additional difficulties in application. Firstly, the two components must be thoroughly mixed, and secondly, the prepared adhesive must be used within the time strictly specified by the manufacturer. This can range from a few minutes to several hours after the ingredients have been mixed.
A common feature of all polyurethane adhesives is their relatively low temperature resistance, which is not necessarily a disadvantage in a particular application. We discuss adhesives from an industrial application point of view, highlighting the tools and hand tools required in the application for short run production. High volume production is specific to each adhesive user and cannot be discussed in such a summary.

These adhesives are characterised by their high load-bearing capacity and excellent resistance to weathering and temperature changes.
Electromechanical industry: Polyurethane adhesives are also used in the electromechanical industry. They are used for sealing electronic housings, bonding electronic components and joining various materials such as plastics, metal or glass. Polyurethane adhesives have good chemical and electrical resistance, making them ideal for applications in this sector.
Packaging Industry: In the packaging industry, polyurethane adhesives are used to bond and seal various types of packaging, such as boxes, bags or multi-layer packaging. These adhesives provide durable and waterproof bonds, which is particularly important for products subject to stringent safety and quality requirements.
