UV Adhesives

UV-curable adhesives are an innovative solution that provides fast, durable and accurate bonding of different materials. They are widely used in many industries and offer an alternative to traditional adhesives.

MONOLITH UV is a range of one component, solvent free adhesives, mainly based on acrylic and epoxy resins.

UV curable adhesives are an innovative solution used in a variety of industries. They use special adhesives that react when exposed to ultraviolet light, causing them to cure rapidly.

Some transparent plastics contain UV stabilisers that block the transmission of UV light, but they can still be bonded using visible light curing adhesives.

The curing process of UV adhesives is very fast and controlled. Once the adhesive has been applied to the surfaces to be bonded, it is exposed to UV light of the appropriate wavelength. This causes the adhesive to cure instantly, creating a permanent bond. This makes them ideal for applications where fast and accurate bonding of materials is required.

In addition, UV adhesives are solvent-free and do not emit volatile substances, making them more environmentally and health friendly. They also have a fast cure time, which increases the efficiency and productivity of the production process.

They are widely used in the electronics, medical, packaging, printing, optical and other industries. They can be used to bond glass, plastics, metals, ceramics and other materials. These adhesives offer exceptional mechanical strength, durability, weathering and chemical resistance.

It should be noted, however, that UV adhesives require suitable exposure equipment, such as UV lamps, to provide sufficient power and dose of UV radiation.

There are many types of UV bulbs and LEDs with different output powers and spectra. Their ability to emit UV light diminishes over time.

In addition, UV adhesives may require a clean and well-prepared surface to ensure maximum bonding performance.

UV products are mainly used to bond glass and plastics (ABS, PVC, PC). UV adhesives provide flexible and heat resistant bonds.

There are many reasons to use this type of adhesive in your production process. First and foremost – speed – you get a finished joint with full bond strength in just a few seconds!

Other important advantages of UV adhesives are

  • ‘On demand’ curing – this allows for an accurate, tight fit between the parts being joined, the adhesive cures when exposed to a UV lamp,
  • Non-flammable and solvent-free – ensuring a safe working environment,
  • Single component products – no additional mixing of components is required,
  • Appearance – UV adhesives are transparent, providing a clean and aesthetically pleasing bond,
  • Cost effectiveness – UV lamps use less energy than ovens.

The MONOLITH UV range of adhesives is widely used in areas such as

  • Manufacture of medical equipment (e.g. incubators, surgical equipment)
  • Bonding of optical components (e.g. microscopes, binoculars, lenses)
  • Manufacture of household appliances,
  • Manufacture of jewellery and porcelain,
  • Manufacture of automotive accessories (bonding of car lamps),
  • Electromechanics and electronics (encapsulation and sealing of transmitters, bonding of optical fibres).
