PROXIMA ADHESIVES

Industrial Adhesives

Bonding

Bonding is a popular method of joining different materials together by means of a suitable adhesive or adhesion. It is an integral part of many fields, from crafts to construction and manufacturing. Adhesives vary in type and application, allowing different materials and projects to be bonded together. It is important to match the adhesive to the task, surface preparation and cure time. Gluing is used for repairs, construction and art, but caution is required due to potential health and safety hazards.

Metal bonding

Metal Bonding began with the joining of structural components in the aerospace industry, where bonding technology offered the best stiffness to weight ratio.

Today, bonding is used to join many commercial structures such as buses, fire engines, trailers and isothermal vehicles (including refrigerated trucks, of course) and many others.

In our practice we bond among others

  • mild steel,
  • galvanised steel,
  • powder coated steel,
  • aluminium, including anodised,
  • steel and aluminium before powder coating,
  • copper and its alloys (bronze, brass),
  • and less commonly used metals such as magnesium, titanium, etc.
  • and many other metals and their alloys.

Adhesives for plastics

When we talk about bonding plastics, we are not talking about gluing paper or leather to plastic. We specialise in the structural bonding of plastics and the structures built from them.

We do structural bonding of

  • Polycarbonate (PC), e.g. displays – illuminated advertising, aircraft structures, building structures, machine parts,
  • Organic glass (PMMA, Plexiglas™), e.g. machine parts and medical devices,
  • Polystyrene (PS),
  • ABS,
  • PVC (rigid and flexible)
  • Rubber,
  • Polyester, epoxy, phenolic laminates, etc,
Polystyrene and PU rigid foam, usually with other matrices, often to make sandwich panels,
  • Ferrites,

as well as

  • Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP), PTFE, POM, Polyamides (PA) and other difficult to bond plastics.

Flexible bonding

This is a modern approach to bonding with flexible products that are excellent at transferring structural loads, especially impact and vibration.

This is how our customers bond, for example

  • bus bodies,
  • isothermal and refrigerated body components,
  • commercial vehicle bodies,
  • industrial building components,
  • aerospace structural parts,
  • facades,

as well as

  • electric and steam irons,
  • electric and gas cooker parts,
  • kitchen robots,
  • electronic components.

Sealants

Flexible sealing of joints and seams in the manufacture of

  • wagons
  • containers
  • trailers
  • cars

and in the manufacture and assembly of

  • air conditioning and ventilation systems of sheet metal and body panels (very good adhesion to painted, raw and primed surfaces),
  • spray sealing of welds,
  • sealing of seams and joints in metal, sheet metal and plastics processing.
